Sanggar Wayang

Sanggar is a non-formal traditional learning institution. Sanggars are mostly owned and managed by individuals. At a sanggar, educations to create professions such as dancers, gamelan players, traditional singers, and puppeteers are conducted.. There are also a number of sanggars which produce wayangs (puppets) and other handicrafts;also as parts of their business they offer services such as rentals of gamelan instruments a complete set of wayang for full or partial performances, tents, tables and chairs for events organized by public or individuals.

Instructors in a sanggar sometimes is the owner of sanggar besides recruiting from outsides who are qualified for certain positions.

The length of study is not limited by certain period of time, but depending on how students of sanggars have achieved some level of ability.

Here are listed below a number sanggars which provide teaching services to be gamelan players and puppeteers, also rentals a number of equipments for events relating to wayang performances, traditional dances etc.
